Underground downspout drain cleaning
If your downspouts disappear into the ground, the pipe under your yard can clog without you seeing it. We clear buried downspout lines so roof water actually leaves your property.
How buried downspout pipes clog
Every leaf, needle and handful of shingle grit that gets past your gutters washes into the pipe under your yard. Silt settles in the low spots of corrugated pipe, roots find the joints, and over time the line chokes off. You won't see it until the water has nowhere to go.
Signs of a clogged underground drain
- Water backs up and spills out at the top of the downspout during rain.
- The gutter overflows right at the downspout, even though it's clean.
- The ground stays soggy along the path of the pipe.
- Little or no water comes out of the pipe's outlet during a storm.
When gutters overflow, the extra water saturates the soil and pushes on those buried pipes. A clear line moves that water away from your foundation instead.

Keep the line clear
The best protection is keeping debris out of the pipe in the first place. Gutter guards stop most of it at the roofline, and a Leaf Eater Advanced rain head screens what's left at the downspout. Annual service keeps silt from building back up.
Underground drain questions
Why is the first visit more than annual service?
The first cleaning clears years of buildup, so it takes more work: $200 for the first system up to 50 feet and $100 for each additional system. Once you're on annual service, it's $100 for the first system and $50 for each additional one.
Do you clean French drains?
No. We clean the buried pipes your downspouts drain into. For French drains, we recommend G&H Home Services at (678) 402-4918.
How do I know my downspouts go underground?
If a downspout ends in a pipe going into the ground instead of a splash block or extension, it feeds an underground line. Many homes have several, each with its own outlet somewhere downhill, often a pop-up emitter in the lawn or an open pipe at a ditch or curb.
